Who runs Gladstone Meteors Radio Controlled Car Club Inc?

The Gladstone Meteors Radio Controlled Car Club Inc is a sub club of the Gladstone Meteors Sports Club and is run by a group of dedicated volunteer club members who make up the Committee . The Committee meets each month to discuss the running of the club, to make decisions about it's direction and to discuss ideas and issues presented by Club Members. Club Members are eligible to run for any of the Committee positions each year.

How is GMRCCC Inc funded?

Gladstone Meteors Radio Controlled Car Club Inc is funded through membership and racing fees, sales through our canteen on race days, as well as through the generous support of our valued Sponsors.

Where is GMRCCC Inc located?

Gladstone Meteors Radio Controlled Car Club Inc is located on Glenlyon rd next door to the Meteors sports club and across the road from the Botanic gardens. See the “how to find us” section for further details.

How big is the track?

The race tracks current layout is approximately 200m long comprising of hairpin bends, long sweeping corners, straights, double triple and table top jumps and is constantly being maintained/repaired/changed and improved by our members.

When is the track open?

The track is open to members for practice at all times, and our club race days are on the 3rd Sunday of every month with structured practice, qualifiers and finals for each class.

What facilities are available at the track?

Aside from the track and drivers stand the club also operates a canteen with hot food cold drinks and various sweets, toilet facilities, bins, spectator barriers and limited seating on race days.

What type of car/equipment do I need to buy?

Gladstone Meteors Radio Controlled Car Club Inc currently have race classes for 1/8th Nitro buggies, 1/8th Nitro Truggies, 1/8 Electric Buggies and 1/10 Electric Short Course Trucks.

In 2011 we will be expanding in include 6 on road races, the primary on road class we will be offering is “Vintage Trans Am”, and in the short term while we sort out other classes we will offer an “outlaw” class for anything that falls outside of it.

How much does it cost to race?
 

Members  - Short Course $5 - All other classes $10

Visiting members from other clubs - Short Course $10  - All other classes $15

Non members - Short Course $20 - All other classes $25

At this early stage a pricing structure has not been developed for on road.



Who can join the club?

Anyone can join the club. If you can steer a car around our track your welcome to join in the fun. You don’t have to be a member of our club to race though, feel free to come down and try it before becoming a member.

How do I join the club?

To join Gladstone Meteors Radio Controlled Car Club just come down and talk to any of our members on any club day, we’ll have membership forms on hand or you can print out one out from our downloads page.

How long is a race?

The 1/8 scale vehicles typically race between 10 min and 30 min and the short course trucks race for 6-10 min. All of our races are time with Sly Fox race timing, which requires all vehicles to be fitted with a personnel transponder

How many cars in a race?

We can have up to 11 cars racing on our track, when the number of entries for any class exceed this we break the vehicles up into groups and run a number of qualifying rounds with the fastest progressing to the mains (finals).

How do you know your race times and placing for each race?

We use Sly Fox race timing software that will time your laps to a thousandth of a second. Race positions are called out during the race and final results are posted on our notice board as the races are completed during the day.
